Westchester Students Named National Merit Semifinalists

More than 100 students from Westchester county were announced as semifinalists in the 64th annual National Merit Scholarship Program, a program that recognizes academic achievement in high school students.

Last week, more than 100 high school students from a number of Westchester schools were chosen as semifinalists in the 64th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. The students are part of a pool of 16,000 semifinalists throughout the country. From those 16,000, 7,500 finalists will be picked to receive upwards of $32 million in scholarships. These scholarships will be announced next spring prior to college entrance.

This year’s semifinalists were chosen based on 2017 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) scores. They represent less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.
