Fro-Yo Shop Adds Kids’ Play Area

Fro-Yo Shop Adds Kids’ Play Area

Swirl N Joy, a build-your-own frozen yogurt dessert bar in Tuckahoe, recently opened an outdoor kids' play area, and added games and iPads inside.

As the summer comes to a close, the frozen yogurt season seems to wind down as well. But, at Swirl N Joy in Tuckahoe, the fun isn’t just about the fro-yo. This summer, the frozen yogurt spot opened a new outdoor play area for kids, complete with a mini playground.

Swirl N Joy is focused on making sure its customers have “a great frozen yogurt experience,” says owner Chris Parra. The store features more than 10 frozen yogurt flavors, and more than 100 choices of toppings. In addition, the shop has candy, free Wi-Fi, TVs, music, and its newest addition—the outdoor courtyard with play space for kids.

Parra calls the new play space a “beautiful section for kids to interact and have fun,” and says it is geared for children ages 1 and older, “even the teenagers come and hang out,” he says. The new play space features colorful kid-sized tables and chairs, a play house, a drawing board, slides, a mini-playground, and a white board, on which kids can write their names after donating a dollar to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. In addition, the courtyard features plenty of seating “for parents to sit back and relax and catch up while the kids are busy,” Parra says. Inside, there are board games and iPads available for children to play with.

Parra says he hopes that this new addition will enhance the full experience of the shop, and encourage families to come out to Swirl N Joy as the weather gets colder.

In the summer, it is open seven days a week from 10am-11pm. During the rest of the year, hours are Monday-Thursday and Sunday from 10:30am-10pm and Friday and Saturday from 10:30am-11pm.
