How to Get Free Hot Dogs in Brooklyn Bridge Park

How to Get Free Hot Dogs in Brooklyn Bridge Park

The free frankfurters begin this weekend!

The Public Art Fund is bringing artist Erwin Wurm’s Hot Dog Bus to Brooklyn Bridge Park this summer. The vintage Volkswagen Microbus has been transformed into a bright yellow food truck that will serve hot dogs to park visitors on Saturday afternoons.

Wurm, a renowned sculptor who considers the act of eating to be a sculptural process of its own, chose to turn the bus into the shape of a hot dog to highlight the gastronomic connections between New York City’s most iconic street food and his Austrian roots.

Though theHot Dog Buswas first exhibited as Curry Bus in 2015 at The Museum of Wolfsburg in Germany where it served currywurst (traditional German fast food sausages), it was re-envisioned for its new home in New York City this summer.Hot Dog Busis the artist’s first solo institutional exhibition in New York City and considered to be the most ambitious and interactive sculpture in his series of “supersized” everyday objects.

Hungry New Yorkers can visit theHot Dog Bus from 12pm to 6pm every Saturday from June 16 to August 25.
