Holy Angels Regional School Offers New Programs Centered Around This Year's Kindness Matters Theme

The Holy Angels Regional School started a Father's Club, with the first meeting on September 27. The club aims to support family engagement. The Father's Club relates to this year's kindness matters theme: "One Body, One Spirit, One Community... Unity Matters" because dads will have the opportunity to come into the school and participate in programming.

“We have families from 17 different parishes across Long Island, from as far as Brentwood, Mount Sinai and William Floyd, so there’s a lot of diversity inside the school in terms of communities that families come from. Our goal this year is to bring people together as a community,” says Michael Connell, principal of Holy Angels Regional School.

The school aims to bring the community together through a systematic approach of supporting positive choices and behaviors that students make. In class, students learn the importance of speaking up when they see something wrong.

Second Step, a program rooted in socio-emotional learning that transforms schools into supportive and successful learning environments, is implemented in the religious curriculum. It is a holistic approach that creates a more empathetic society by fostering a sense of safety and respect.

Another new program this year will be the Power of One assembly, which is scheduled for January, where students learn from a presentation of carefully selected stories about how a community can be built one student at a time, and end bullying.
