Crafts and Drafts Offers Kids' Birthday Parties

Crafts and Drafts, a crafting studio in New City, recently began offering kids' art birthday parties. The Rockland birthday party location also offers paint time for adults and open paint time for kids.

Crafts and Drafts in New City was originally created in July 2014 with the intent of hosting craft parties for adults and serving beer and wine to customers while they paint. But as children’s art birthday parties became more popular, the full-service art studio began the transition to what it felt its customers wanted most.

“We started birthday parties as a way to fill up time that we couldn’t fill with adult [parties], and we realized there was a calling around here,” says Robert Priskie who co-owns the studio with wife Kim. “We’re booking [birthday] parties faster than adult parties at this point.”

Parents, no need to worry: The bar closes when children are present, and kids are not allowed inside when it is open.

Birthday parties are 3 hours long and allow children to tie-dye a shirt, paint on canvas, decorate cupcakes and cake pops, and even make jewelry. Parties require 15 guests and cost $15 per additional guest. Pizza and water or juice are included. All components of the party are customizable. If a child wants to tie-dye something other than shirts or have gluten-free cupcakes for decorating, Crafts and Drafts will work to make it happen.

Kids Open Paint time is available for children from 3-6pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays through July 5. Children can come in, pick from samples provided by the studio, and paint whatever they like. Kids Open Paint costs $20 per child.

The art studio will also host summer camps that run one week each. Children paint from samples provided by the studio. The camp season runs from July 6 to late August. At the end of the week, an art show will be hosted for families and friends to see their child’s art displayed in the studio.
