The Conservative Synagogue of Westport, Weston and Wilton, in cooperation with the Interfaith Housing Association (IHA), continues its annual Thanksgiving tradition of Share the Pie.  At this time of the year when so many of us have much to be thankful for, the community can help make a difference and support others while complementing their holiday meals with gourmet pies provided by two local bakeries.  Pies can also be donated directly to families in need.

Maureen Liebergall, synagogue member and organizer of the program, says, “About 1,200 pies were ordered last year.  Although many individuals and families order pies, a good portion of the orders comes from local business and corporations as it is a great way for employers to show gratitude to their employees.”

Proceeds from Share the Pie support IHA’s mission to provide facilities and services to help local homeless people achieve an independent and self-sufficient lifestyle. This is accomplished by providing permanent affordable housing, casework and supportive services, emergency shelter, food and meals, and life skills training critical in preventing homelessness from recurring.  The proceeds also enable The Conservative Synagogue to fund many of its outreach programs.

Once again, Rick Dickinson, owner of Great Cakes of Westport, is providing his delectable apple, pecan and pumpkin pies.  Beldotti’s Bakery of Stamford also supports the program by contributing kosherpareve pies, available in apple and pumpkin.

Order forms are available on the synagogue website, www.tcs-westport.org, and in the synagogue office. Orders must be submitted by 5pm on Wednesday, November 19. They can be mailed to Share the Pie c/o TCS, 30 Hillspoint Road, Westport, CT 06880; faxed to 203-454-8888; or phoned in to 203-454-4673 with a credit card number (Visa/MC only) and expiration date.

Pies will be available for pickup on Tuesday, November 25, 9am-7pm in the synagogue parking lot, just off the Post Road.  For more information: 203-454-4673
