"The sight of baseball fans, young and old, uniting to help put an end to Alzheimer's disease was inspiring," says Lou-Ellen Barkan, president and CEO of the Alzheimer's Association, New York City Chapter. And although the Yanks ceded to the Cyclones, with a 5-3 final score, "They are still winners in our eyes," Barkan says.
The night ended with a post-game fireworks show, and all kids ages 12 and under were invited down to the field to take a turn around the bases.
