Judith Bender, Phil BrousMathiGo, the company behind a 10-level iPhone application math game that's now available in the App Store, makes teaching children math its mission.

"No Child Left Behind left a lot of children behind," says co-founder Phil Brous. "There is a huge push towards mathematics in the schools, and we wanted to create a math toy that was fun to play with. MathiGo is perfect for some quick, entertaining math practice while in the car, while waiting in line at the grocery store, or any other situation where you have a minute or two and want to improve your skills."

The app offers a "mad minute" mode for math speed demons that perform well under pressure and "practice," "game," and "quiz" modes for those who like to take their time. Questions require mastery of basic math concepts, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, and some of the more advanced levels delve into concepts like remainders. The game forces players to come up with their own answers instead of choosing from multiple choice options like many other math-game applications and toys. Score keeping at each level allows players to track their improvement as they move from level one to 10.

"It's challenging no matter who you are," says co-founder and mathematician Judith Bender. "It's also a bit addicting once you get into it."

The MathiGo app is $1.99 and a portion of all profits from the sales will be donated to nonprofit organizations for the education of children. For more information, visit the website or send an e-mail to MathigoToy@gmail.com or info@mathigo.com.
