Venue Description: The Stamford Museum & Nature Center is dedicated to bringing art, agricultural and natural sciences, and history to the community. SM&NC offers family fun through exhibits, educational programs, and special events. At the Overbrook Nature Center, visitors can explore more than 80 acres of nature trails or join in an informative program with one of the center's naturalists. Opened in the fall of 2006, the Wheels in the Woods Trail #7 is an accessible nature trail that meanders alongside the Poorhouse Brook and through the established hardwood forest. Heckscher Farm offers the sights, sounds, and smells of active farm life. The Animal Embassy Building houses a collection of non-releasable exotic animal ambassadors. There are a variety of programs designed for children to develop an understanding of wildlife and their environment. Each Friday, weather permitting, visitors can enjoy viewing the moon, planets, and deep space objects through the 22-inch research telescope at the Observatory ($3; $2 children). Nature's Playground in the woods is a great place for kids and parents to scale a spider's web to a tree house with a lookout, then wind their way down a tubular slide or zoom down the otter slide. Seating with tables for picnicking or projects and benches are provided all around the SM&NC.

The Stamford Museum & Nature Center is located at 39 Scofieldtown Road in Stamford. Admission is $10; $8 seniors; $6 students (with valid ID); $5 children ages 4-17; free for children 3 and younger. For hours and more info: 203-322-1646 or stamfordmuseum.org.
