Venue Description: The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk is the only aquarium focused on the Long Island Sound and hopes to inspire people of all ages to appreciate and protect it for future generations. The aquarium has 34 exhibits with 1,200 animals of 259 species. It also features an intertidal touch tank where you can stroke the backs of sharks and stingrays, plus an IMAX theatre and seasonal marine cruises on the Sound. The aquarium also houses two endangered sea turtles in a 10,000-gallon tank and offers information on turtle migration and conservation. Visitors to the aquarium are greeted with a variety of sea creatures and an educational look at their importance to the ecosystem.
The aquarium is located at 10 N. Water St. in Norwalk, CT. It is open daily from 10am-5pm (10am-6pm July 1 through Labor Day). Seal feedings at the aquarium occur at 11:45am, 1:45pm, and 3:45pm daily at the unique indoor/outdoor exhibit. There is both a café and gift shop where food and souvenirs may be purchased. Admission is $13.95; $12.95 seniors; $10.50 children ages 2-12. An adventure pass, which includes admission and a classic IMAX movie, is $20.95; $19.70 seniors; $15.50 children ages 2-12.
