Description: Enjoy a fall hayride, and spend some time doing activities learning about the misunderstood creatures of the night. Atka, the wolf is visiting from the nearby Wolf Conservation Center. Families should bring their flashlights to enjoy a night spotting scavenger hunt along the boardwalk trail and raft trips onto the pond. Stop by the roaring fire in the pavilion and enjoy S'mores. Rain date is Sunday, Oct. 28, 12-4pm.

Venue Description: The Woodcock Nature Center was the brainchild of J.M. Woodcock, a visionary Ridgefield, CT resident who donated the core five acres for a meeting hall and staff quarters. WNC has been a private nonprofit source of nature and environmental education in southwestern Connecticut since 1972. The fulltime staff of the center works with the local protected wildlife to serve as a resource for educating the community about the center's natural surroundings through public outreach, school field trips and visits, scouting events, onsite birthday parties, and summer camps.

Located on 149 acres of state-protected land, the WNC preserve is a haven for aquatic life and a variety of birds and includes a pond, wetlands, and 3 miles of publicly accessible woodland trails. Along the trails, you'll find historic stone walls and stands of old maple, beech, oak, and hickory trees. WNC is home to a variety of living local and exotic creatures, including snakes, frogs, and lizards. The center also houses a handful of injured birds of prey.

The Woodcock Nature Center is located at 56 Deer Run Road in Wilton, CT. The nature center's woodland trails are open to all, sunrise to sunset, every day of the year. The nature center is open 9:30am-4pm Monday-Friday and most Saturdays (Monday-Friday only in the summer). Admission is FREE, but donations are appreciated. For a free downloadable trail map or more information, visit woodcocknaturecenter.org.
